I can wear a helmet from America?

I bought a motorcycle helmet online from America but it does come with a sticker on the Australian Standards. Can I legally carry it in Australia? if I can not control it somewhere, so have the Australian standards set label on the product?

I am sure American helmets meet and probably exceed Australian Standard. Helmets DOT and SNELL approved here. They have a very strict and very high safety standards in the U.S. Do you think the cops are there to really check at all?
